Josh Armstrong
Dr. Josh Armstrong is Assistant Professor of Percussion and Assistant Director Bands at Delta State University where he conducts all aspects of the percussion program including lessons, ensemble, steel band, and drumline. In 2013 he received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in percussion performance at The University of Arizona, and earned his bachelor’s degree in music education and his master’s degree in percussion performance from Texas Tech University in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
Armstrong has performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy, and has appeared as a guest artist at multiple universities around the country. He has performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony, North Mississippi Symphony, Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and Midland Symphony. He has appeared at multiple Days of Percussion including Arizona, Iowa, and Mississippi. He has also been a guest soloist with the Waterloo Municipal Band.
Armstrong is a sponsored educator and artist with Marimba One™ marimbas, and Vic Firth Drumsticks, serves as President of the Mississippi chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, and on the University Pedagogy Committee for PAS.
