Longo
Longo was born in Coimbra, Portugal, on July 6th, 2001. He studied percussion at the Conservatório Regional de Castelo Branco and played in the Philharmonic Bands of Idanha-a-Nova and Retaxo during the same period. In 2018 he edited the project A Pound for Ezra and, in the following year, the duo The Man who stole The Riot Frame with the pianist Filipe Raposo. In the same year he assumed the Artist-in-Residence status in Idanha-a-Nova, a UNESCO Creative City of Music.
In 2020 he edited Silica - a record in open rehearsal format - and premiered, under the Festival DME Festival, the multidisciplinary project Carmel by the Sea, with bassist João Hasselberg and filmmaker Marianne Harlé. Between 2021 and 2022 he was invited by Centro Cultural de Belém to participate in the project New Creators for Children, under the tutelage of the group Sete Lágrimas; to design two artistic residencies at the S. Bruno School (Caxias), under the project Culture and Education; and to conceive a children's show under the Big Bang International Festival. He's sponsored by the American percussion brand Marimba One and has recently cancelled his enrollment in the Jazz Vibraphone Bachelor's Degree at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.
