Wesley Parker
Dr. Wesley Parker is an Assistant Professor of Music at Harding University in Searcy, AR, where he serves as the Director of Athletic Bands and Percussion, as well as adjunct percussion instructor at Arkansas State University- Beebe in Beebe, AR.
In the Spring of 2015, Parker co-founded Intersect - a saxophone and marimba duo – with Dr. Andrew Cook. Parker received his doctorate in percussion performance from Florida State University, and prior to FSU, he received a Master's Degree in percussion performance from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor's Degree in percussion performance from the University of Memphis. Parker has been invited as a guest instructor at many award winning high schools throughout Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Arkansas, including the BOA Grand National Finalist Lafayette High School in Lexington, KY, as well as Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL. He composed for and instructed the HU Bass Line to compete in the PASIC Small Ensemble competition in 2012, and has also been a session presenter at the CBDNA Athletic Band Symposium.
Professional performing experiences include the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, concerto soloist with the Little Rock Wind Symphony, and concerto soloist with the Harding University Orchestra. In addition to other concerts, clinics, and camps in the Mid-South area, Parker has been published in Percussive Notes and currently serves on the Health and Wellness Committee with the Percussive Arts Society.
He is a proud endorser of Marimba One, Innovative Percussion, and is a member of the Black Swamp Percussion Educator Network.
