Rick Rodriguez
Rick Rodriguez (“Mr. Rod”) has become a well-known and respected percussion clinician and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. He is currently percussion director and assistant band director at Cedar Ridge High School RRISD in Austin TX. Rick is also current director of the Cedar Ridge Jazz Ensemble and is a busy master class teacher around the country. Rick was also previously the percussion specialist at Spring High School for nearly two decades prior to Cedar Ridge. Since the early 90’s Mr Rod and his percussion ensembles have been fortunate enough to have several appearances in various settings at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago IL. Spring Percussion Ensemble was scouted by John Paynter back in 1994 and was invited to perform with the North Shore Concert Band of Chicago thereafter at Northwestern University.
Rick’s latest Cedar Ridge Percussion Ensemble had also performed at the Midwest Clinic with the Cedar Ridge Low Brass Choir. Cedar Ridge Percussion Ensemble was also staged at the Texas Music Educators Association in San Antonio TX. In Rick’s younger days he was the “center snare” of the famous UNT PASIC Drum Line. He was also snare drummer and staff member of the Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. Rick has also been on staff with Blue Devils, Phantom Regiment and Blue Knights and is currently with Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Rodriguez has been on the adjudicating staff of Drum Corps International (DCI) and is currently on Wgi percussion panel.
