Bai graduated from music college in Shanghai and music drama university in Hamburg, Germany, while obtaining Masters degrees from both schools. He successively studied under Xue Baolun, Chen Xianghao, Gao Hua, Yang Ruwen and other teachers, and was the first mainland student of Keiko Abe, a famous Japanese percussion composer, educator and performer.
