Marimba One™ Educational Artist Galen Lemmon was delighted when 17 of his students won awards at the CA Chapter of PAS Competitive Festival held at Fresno State University on May 4th.

A weekend of music is coming to the Arcata Playhouse.  On Friday, March 23rd at 8pm internationally acclaimed marimba soloist Eriko Daimo and world-renowned composer and percussionist Pius Cheung will perform.

Ron Samuels is the owner and founder of Marimba One, in Arcata California.  In the early Eighties, while studying piano at Humboldt State University, Ron first heard the marimba being played at a festival.  Enthralled, yet living on a student budget, he decided to build his own marimba.

At the heart of a marimba one™ marimba is the Honduras Rosewood Keyboard. The richly colored and faintly aromatic rosewood is universally known for its beauty, durability and sound quality. It is the most resonant wood in the world. 

World Percussion Group (WPG), the brainchild of Marimba One artists Tim Palmer and Jason Huxtable (Maraca2) is a group of percussion students who were selected from over 100 applicants to tour around Europe .

This summer Marimba One artists were busy all across the world, and Matthew Coley was no exception!

 It was the sound--elusive but haunting--that drove Ron Samuels, a 25-year-old college student a few classes short of a degree in psychology, to build a marimba from scratch.

Yes, marimba one is turning 30 this year. It was in 1987 that  marimba one was launched. We're celebrating with special offers to thank you, musicians who've brought us all this way.
